Student recognition is a large part of school life at Brookdale. At a weekly WOW assembly we give out helping hands as a way to recognize students who have demonstrated the behaviours of good citizens and conscientious students. The WOW assemblies are every Friday morning at 8: 50 a.m. We also have the weekly Golden Boot award for neat, tidy and safe rows of winter boots. The Golden Turtle award goes to students who have been persistent and steady in their improvement at school.

Inclusion in the school Honour Roll is a way for grade 6, 7, and 8 students to receive recognition for academic achievement. Our grade 8 students also have the Bronco and Medallion awards, presented during the June graduation ceremony. For the Bronco award, students must accumulate a total of 10 points for their participation in clubs, teams and volunteer opportunities at the school. The Medallion is the next level where senior students have earned their Bronco level but have gone on to earn 10 additional academic points based on term averages.
